Hi all,

 

I'm a beginning PhD student at East Carolina University and longtime NANFA member. Can anyone recommend a good YSI unit (or other brand) for measuring dissolved oxygen?We were using a YSI model 55, but it's been having a lot of problems and I understand the company has discontinued it. I think we have about $1500 in our budget for a new one.

Come Monday, if no one else responds, I'll ask our water sampling guys which model they use. It is definitely YSI but I have never paid that close of attention to it. They may have some recommendations too.

Are there other WQ parameters you are interested in?  Or just DO?  In the past, I've almost always used YSI, but the last few years I've been using strictly Horiba for multiple-parameter readers.  The auto-cal solution (one solution that is used to calibrate all parameters [DO, turbidity, salinity, pH, conductivity]) has really made things a breeze when using a unit for weeks at a time without returning to the lab, or when calibration between each reading is part of your SOP for a particular project.
