Since yesterday was a nice day and I hadn't been out in a while I decided to see what was happening in the Little River at Perry Mill Dam. What's not happening is water, for those of you who have been to the dam and have seen the torrent of water going over the top here is what it looks now.
I'm not sure what our rainfall deficit is, but I'm pretty sure it's a lot. I was at the Tellico a couple of weeks ago and it looks like it's possible to walk across it without getting wet. Anyway, I thought that visibility would be pretty good because of the low flow, but it was sub-optimal at about 5'-8' and lots of leaves. This is what fall looks like underwater.
But, there were fish to be found, lots of Redhorse, huge schools of Central Stonerollers, Whitetail Shiners, Tennessee Shiners, Hogsuckers, LM & SM Bass plus others, but it was tough going phtographically; most of my best spots were too shallow and the deeper areas too silty.
Male Snubnose
Blueside in its winter garb, good camoflage though.
Baby Redline, about 1.25".
The ubiquitous snail.
The Southeast could sure use a good drenching.
