Is there something about these that makes you think they're not just plain old channel cats?  (Not all channels have spots).

Location. Headwater catfish, Ictalurus lupus could be possible? And really neat if it is. Sorry to butt in, but I already saw the photo on FB.

Probably I. punctatus but I've never caught I. lupus and requesting help with help differentiating the two

To my eye the tail does not look as pointed as a typical channel cat and the lack of spots could be of significance based off the locality. How big are these guys? Channels almost always have spots by the time they are 4-6" but these look smaller than that which is when they are often spotless...

They are pretty small. The top photo fish TL = 6.978 CM and the lower photo TL = 6.827 CM
