Hi everyone,

I'm looking to set up a new tank for darters etc that I might grab when I'm out with taldridge0321 in the french broad basin. I know this is kinda basic but do I have to have a river manifold for these species?

I'm probably looking at at 46 or 50 gal tank, soil/sand, planted. I'd like to keep it as simple with filter/pump/flow as possible.

so do I need this kid of big rig: http://www.practical...-river-aquarium

or can I keep it simple use something like a Hydor Koralia circ pump for flow?

If folks have favorite filters I'm also all ears. I'd like to get it set up and cycling.

thank you,

kurt

I am keeping rainbow darters in a 125 gallon aquarium and have the filter supply on one side of the tank and the return on the other. For a little extra flow I have a powerhead on the same as the supply blowing the length of the tank. A stream manifold would be a great set up but I don't think it is absolutely needed.

My stream tank was a 55g with a slightly oversided hob and a cheapo SunSun current generator. Kept plenty of minners and darters happy with that.
