I have about eight Blue Suckers hatched last year that have been kept in well water for entire time.  They are thus only about 4" long.  We are starting to shut down lab owing to budget issues so I will be trying to salvage the fish.  Anyone kept such in 125-gal or similar aquariums?  These guys have been fed baby BS for entirety of their lives so will be feed training them in their new home.

I'd guess you're breaking new ground with this species, I haven't heard of even big public aquaria keeping them.

They seem easy to keep and not prone to jump.

Centrarchid - huge respect for the work you do and the information that you have shared on this forum.  I ask this question out of a genuine desire to learn - won't the blue sucker (Cycleptus elongatus) reach 30 inches in length?  It would seem that these fish would outgrow a 125g tank.

The fish were given as larvae for free.  Original intent was to finish them out in a 0.25 acre pond.  They are currently too small to eat.  Will try to get some use out of them.  I think they will be OK through about 10" total length.

Blue suckers at the top of my bucket list, keep us up to date.
