I am wondering everyone's experience with this fish. For me they are easily startled. I do love watching them. I am wondering what everyone else thinks of Them?

Oh, also my experience with least killis is rather limited, but I do think that they stay rather shy... probably because they fit in everyone's mouth...

I keep them.  Mine have been very hearty, tolerate all kinds of water conditions and temperatures, and breed happily, both indoors and in outdoor summer tubs here in Colorado.  They are friendly community fish, and haven't caused a bit of trouble for me.

As for easily-startled... mine aren't particularly skittish.  They're not shy for me, and they are a lot easier to catch, than my goodeids.

Mine are not skittish, and in fact they all come to the front tank when they see me, expecting food. It may be because my current population is the fifth or sixth generation from the original group that I collected, and all they have known is tank life.

I have 4 in a 3 gallon Eclipse planted tank and they have done great.  It seems they prefer lots of cover and lower light.

I have a friend interested in getting maybe a 1 or 2 pairs of least killifish.  Does anyone know where we could pick up a handful in the DC metro area?  There are a few commercial providers, but the shipping cost is prohibitively high.

I have a colony in a 10 gal. tank. It's not that heavily planted but it does have a lot of algae on the back wall of the tank. The fish are constantly picking through it. Recently, they have been dropping a lot of fry.
