I've been doing more microfishing than usual lately and that has led me to catching some new minnows. The problem is I have the most trouble with IDing these little guys, so I thought it would be a good idea to double check my IDs. The first fish was caught out of Pigeon Creek in Evansville, Indiana and I suspect it to be a Ribbon Shiner.

The second fish was caught out of the Ohio River close to Evansville and I suspect it to be a River Shiner. The Indiana minnow identification guide published by the Indiana dnr shows River Shiners as being less compressed than the other images that I have seen on the internet so I have some doubt on this ID.

Any thoughts?

First one looks like a ribbon shiner to me. Certainly has the eye of a ribbon.

Not sure about the second.

If this was from NC, I would say it's probably a Hybognathus - silvery minnow.  But I'M out of my element in Indiana
