Can anyone help me with issues I have been having with my Sealife dc1400?

I headed to a lake Monday (streams still have high water from spring rains) and whenever I pushed the button to turn on my camera it flashed an error and immediately turned off. The error the briefly appeared seemed to point to the lense mechanism which would not extend and for some reason the automatic cover over it does not close all the way. I used my gopro that day (first time diving with it).

Can't say for sure, but sand and grit are the enemies of moving mechanisms on cameras. See if you can rinse it, on even lightly scrub with a toothbrush.
