Very lapsed member from the early 2000's who just re-upped last night - and I recognize several of the names here, yay continuity :)

I grew up in the NE Florida marshes and St Johns drainage with a net in my hand and my bedroom full of tanks holding last week's collections (and until I knew better, I sometimes put the natives or their progeny back).  Pygmy sunfishes and Heterandria formosa still have a special place in my heart.

The last time I was active in NANFA was shortly after acquiring some property on the Dog River in Douglas County, Georgia.  I met Casper, Bruce, Steve and some others on a couple of collecting trips.  Then work and falconry and grad school and life in general got in the way of having time to maintain tanks or weekends free to join on the trips.

Nowadays I travel too much for work to commit to tanks or a hawk.  My husband gets dibs on any free weekends that I'm home.  But I would love to get back into snorkeling and helping collect and ID.

I've penciled in the 2018 Convention and the Guana River event in Florida next month.  Both are doubtful due to work and family scheduling conflicts, but if I can make 'em I'll be there.

Tell us your name.

Many of us are still active with quite a few new ones.

I still do primarily snorkeling and am headed to Florida in a couple weeks to snorkel Wakula and wander Tate's Hell.

I'm helping your Georgia rep, Michael Wolfe with this year's promising to be great NANFA convention. Very convenient for you in a unique region and environment.

Hard to beat those little Least Killies but i'm especially a fan of the Pygmy Killies.

whooops.  I tried to edit the post to add my name and it threw a permissions error.  (Sharon Allsup)

The convention looks like it is going to rock.  I soooo hope to be able to work something out, no pun intended.

Tate's Hell, sweet!  The Gulf Coast is horribly underappreciated, IMO.  Are you seeing much of an issue with invasives?

Welcome back Sharon.  Life has a way of making hobbies difficult sometimes.  But glad to see you paying attention to fish again.  We do a few interesting things around the Atlanta area and if you are OK with it, I can put you on an unofficial email group that I communicate with about whatever it is we might get into.  Usually smallish trips or service projects in the general Atlanta area (I am out towards Athens).  We will likely have a few less trips this spring than normal as I am preparing for our convention this year, but we will still be out in the water some.

They call it the Forgotten Coast for good reason.  If you look at Carrabelle's Franklin County footprint it is like 90% State and National Forest.

Most of the Florida invasives are about mid state southward... in my understanding.  Lots of neat fish in the panhandle you just have to watch for snakes and gators... not a problem in TN.
