Received an email from Save the Sound this morning circulating a link to contact the New England Fisheries Management Council regarding upcoming discussion of changes to regulations - those who may wish to voice an opinion can click on the link below to generate a letter on their behalf to the NEFMC:

Collectively the anadromous river herrings, Alewife and Blueback Herring, Alosa pseudoharengus and A. aestivalis are a critical part of the food web in New England that ties our freshwater habitats to the sound and the sea beyond.  Great strides have been made very recently in the management of clupeids, especially bunker/menhaden, that are already producing ripple effects and visible change in the abundance of many spp. at higher trophic levels.  Responsible management of these clupeids has great potential for recreational anglers, conservationists, and commercial fishermen alike.
