I collected 4 of these is a small, spring fed creek that is ultimately a tributary of the White River system in Arkansas.  I have the Fishes of Arkansas book and have been through it page by page hundreds of times at this point and still can't ID this species based on anything in the book.  I originally thought it might be a fathead minnow based on the spot on the dorsal fin that is present on all 4, however the life colors description in the book makes no mention of them.  Likewise, my specimens have a well defined dark lateral stripe with a gold stripe on top.  Neither are mentioned in the life color section.

Any help is appreciated!

Per forum policy we cannot do identifications for fish that are in home aquarium.  Please read the rules.  However in this case please also look closely at the front of the base of the dorsal fin.

Also consider the wide/round body cross-section (not laterally compressed), tiny scales on front half of body, large terminal mouth ...  this is an easy one, even for a guy who's never been to AR.

One of the most common minnows in small turbid creeks. They get pretty big and chubby.
