We have a similar issue where I live regarding gar and so called gamefish species. Many locals are convinced gar have a significant impact on bass and crappie populations and I routinely find gar carcasses that were tossed on the shoreline. I'm doing what I can to educate but it's a work in progress to say the least.

Yeah pretty much your typical "react first, research later" approach. I'm glad there's informed people like TeeJay and Dr. Peter Moyle trying to counter their points and actions.

Possibly the most frustrating part of this is the article and film which my friends article is trying to retort. It is presented in a very pro-conservation, pro-fisheries way. Ugh is right Ben!
