I wanted to share this event with the group if anyone is interested in going.  I plan on attending and setting up a table with some native fish on display.  I will not be paddling, but will go early and collect some fish from the river to setup a display.  If anybody is interested, let me know.

Here is a writeup and schedule of events:

2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and the 25th Anniversary of the Red River receiving the invaluable designation that put an end to the dam struggle that began in the 60s. This event is to celebrate this milestone for free-flowing Red River, one of our unique Kentucky treasures. The event benefits local non-profit watershed group, Friends of Red River, who works to clean up the Red River, educate the public about clean water, and create more access to the Red (restore, protect, and celebrate our waterways)!

Come for part of the day or for the whole thing!

I wanted to post a brief follow-up.

My Nephew and myself met with a member of the Red River Watershed group and did some morning collecting in the Gorge.

That afternoon, we setup a NANFA display at a restaurant/bar where they were having the 'celebration'

In all, it was a great day.  The weather was perfect for collecting and we saw a lot of great fish.  I met a lot of people who I got to discuss native fish with and the goals of NANFA.  I made a few contacts for the future, but the best part of seeing how excited my nephew, who's 10ish, was with all the beautiful fish.
