Hi all! My family and I are pondering moving to North Carolina, and I was wondering...what does North Carolina have for good native aquarium fishes? The fish would need to fit in a 10 gallon tank part of the time (I would try to keep them in a larger water garden as long as possible...ideally something 20" deep or deeper to handle the heat). Thanks

NC has enough variety to fill a book. What area are you moving to?

Most likely the western side of the state. The move is far from definite, but I wanted some ideas in the event that I did.

Western NC is an excellent place for a native fish fan. The biggest problem may be narrowing in on a few species to keep.
If there's any way you can make it happen, upgrade to (or add) a 20L tank. (Avail for $20 during Petco's periodic $1/gal sales.) A 10g is a small tank, and ... IMO ... not very suitable for many of the more active species of minnows and darters. You quadruple your choices of suitable fishes to keep with a 20L vs a 10g.
