I have been working with a lot of farmers that own springs, most that are developed in some way.  Several have the springs covered to protect areas were in the past used for canning or raw milk containers needing to be kept at a cool.  Most of the springs are too small or unreliable to support typical aquaculture efforts, but a least a few are still of interest to the owner.  Two spring setups are of particular interest.  The first is near the town of Niangua, MO where a flow of about 30 gallons per minute go through what used to be a cheese factor.  The owner is remodelling the building and looking to make so it makes his little playground more interesting.  We are looking into setting up for Brook Trout on the upstream side and sunfish on a downstream side where the water runs a little warmer.  The second is in my lab downstream of a single use aquaponics system involving Rainbow Trout followed by native plants associated with spring habitats.  Some thing really cool is taking off with the latter because of LED light source in use.  Young Rainbow Trout can be gorgeous when on good feet under good light.

This sounds awesome. If you would like a hand, I would like to help if I can free myself up. I have a bit of a background in construction, agriculture and aquaculture. Pm me if you feel so inclined.
