Hello :D

I'm from Hinton located in the Southeren part of West Virginia. I live between the New river and the Greenbrier (as it says in my location). I love to fish, swim, and watch fish in the river. I make games (not my profession) and I have been working on a game called Sim River (a fish sim I work on now and then).

I'm thinking about raising native fish in an aquarium (I have not bought the aquarium yet), I'm not sure which. I have tried to raise a small mouth bass (twice), and a bluegill (once); with very bad results. One bass (one inch long) lasted 2 weeks the other lasted (just over one inch) almost a month (I think). The bluegill, I don't remember exactly :(

I have kept other non-native species before with great success. I have quite a bit of spare parts for an aquarium.

I'm also wanting to buy some fancy tailed guppies for my sons little aquarium.

I hope it works out. I tried to make one once out of a distributor cap, a tailpipe, two fan belts, and a mostly intact sun roof. The results were generally undesireable  Keep us posted on this project, with pics!

Oh, about the fish, you can't keep those things - my uncle had some and they died one after another!

Haha! I'm not sure about what type of fish I want to try (I have quite awhile to think about it). I'm wanting to raise something in a 30-50 gallon tank.

I still have no idea what I did wrong :? (maybe it was because they were so young :? ). I had very small minnows in with the bass (both times); Mainly for the bass to eat (which he did just fine). I checked the ph and amonia content now and then, it was fine. The water temp was good and cool. I've read a lot of topics here at the forum and I didn't know about putting salt in the water.

Knowing what I know now, I don't think I will ever want to try bass again (includes LMB, SMB, etc...). After reading the forum it seems that you need a really big tank for them (which I'm not wanting a 100+ tank). When I try again, I will probably try small panfish or darters (I'm open to suggestions).

I plan on building the stand myself.
