Very nice fish. Under represented I think. Maybe because of range. Looks like they are doing very well. Are they easy to keep?

Thanks.There range seems to be through most of the Ozarks, I caught these guys via fish trap, there was literally 100+ of them in the trap after only 45 minutes (note do not try to catch them with a dip net it's almost 99.8% impossible. (I tried that on my first attempt) They seem to be very fragile on handling,I caught oneon a hook, put it in my collecting bucket and it was already starting to go belly up. (Note I was gentel & wetted my hands if you were wondering) Now on to keeping, not even 5 minutes after I acclimated them they where chowing down flakes. (a very small test pinch). I originally put 1 in my 20-G long darter aquarium to see if they'd get along but after maybe a week I noticed it started to bully-stress my darters so I ended up moving that one in with the others. So to sum it up they are extremely easy to get them going on food. (now they eat blood worms right off my fingers)
They're aggressive toward bottom dwellers (they would probably be fine with other shiners. around their size)
So they are easy to keep but I would not recommend keeping them with fish smaller then them.

Beautiful fish! Wish we had them up here in Ohio. I DID however add another Johnny darter to the group today. Went to catch more feeder fry minnows and caught a darter.
