Need help - caught in Gulf of Mexico- florida

Caught this fish near Tarpon Springs Florida. No idea what it is. Had incredibly strong jaw. Kept biting down on pliers, wouldnt allow me to remove hook.

I did a Google search of your photo. It came back as "Gila Monster." I'm thinking that Gulf Toadfish might be a better guess.

My Peterson's Field Guide has a broken spine, it ALWAYS opens to the plate that happens to have toadfish & friends. So by lucky coincidence, I've been preparing for years to answer this specific question.
