Hi, I was wondering how to tell if a bluegill is male or female?
Thank you for any information.

Fish is male, but not a Bluegill. Looks like hybrid between either Pumpkinseed Sunfish or Longear Sunfish with a Bluegill. Nest building males that care for offspring have larger opercular tabs and more intense coloration. The other types of males cause confusion when sexing based on appearance alone. Squeeze those for gametes when they are at least close to ripe.
