Due to the coronavirus, I will scarcely be able to access my classroom where I have several tanks of natives, for a matter of weeks. As it would be difficult to move them all home, I may opt to euthanize and preserve at least some of these darters etc.

What is the best and most humane way to kill these little guys? :(

And...know anyone in or near Boise, Idaho that might want some of them?

I think freezing them in water is pretty ok. They should go dormant and sleep.

Thanks, Matt.

I've avoided this after all--moved everybody to my house. :)

supposedly clove oil, the little bottles you can buy wherever they sell essential oils, puts them to sleep. I have not tried it myself though.
