Years ago, when I was much younger and more naive, I released my foot-long blue channel catfish into a local pond in a park called Washington Park, after he got too big for our tank. I know, I know, I shouldn't have done it. But this was many years ago, and nowadays I would never do such a thing. I'm just curious, what do you guys think happened to it? There were large bullheads in the pond, and there was also a lot of garbage in the pond (this was a bad side of town). The pond was pretty big (it winded all over the park, and it was a large park), although it was only a few feet deep at most parts.

So, do you think he died? Could he still be alive?

I thought this might be an interesting question, and I also wanted to warn people not to do what I did.

(EDITED and REPOSTED because I accidentally hit post too soon. I think somebody deleted my old post, because it was unintelligible since it was only half a sentence long.)

I guess it depends on what you mean by "years ago". I found this site: http://www.dnr.state...sh/catfish.html The site makes an unsubstantiated claim for the oldest channel cat being 24 years old. This sounds like a reasonalbe number to me.

Well, it was probably 5 or more years ago (which is a lot seeing as how I'm only 16).
