The few River Shiners I’ve caught did not have a lot of pigment to them. They were fairly robust and silvery with a relatively large mouth. They are not easily sampled either since they like the main channels and deeper areas of large rivers which can be hard to access.
These look more like Sand Shiners to me assuming there are 7 anal fin rays.
