Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself to the community and offer up a photo I took of my study species here in Tennessee! Hope you all enjoy it, but I am also happy to hear any advice! Take care!

Welcome!  There used to be a few TTU alumni hovering around the forum at one time.  That is a beautiful shot and thanks for sharing!  What type of study are you conducting?

Thank you!

I'll be developing an eDNA assay to detect this species in it's native range while also looking into the population genetics to determine their status and what types of management are needed to assist the current populations. It's endemic to the upper regions of the Duck River here in Tennessee and currently it is listed as State Threatened so there's efforts going on to manage the current populations. Hope that answers the question!

That’s a really neat fish you’re studying.  Any plans to reintroduce this species to creeks it has disappeared from?

As of right now, there are no plans! But once a native range and the extent of extirpation is understood, I am sure TWRA would be interested in locating areas where they should be/ are not anymore. Unfortunately, that is beyond my project but maybe I will be included on future efforts!
