I have been doing a lot of snorkeling this year. (I have been posting the videos on the Facebook page) and I noticed something odd.

At one pond I snorkeled at the pumpkinseed seem to have vanished. I see yellow perch and largemouth bass but no pumpkinseed.

Oddly enough the same thing happened to me in Maryland a couple weeks ago. The place was overrun with bluegill - much more so than last year when there was more lepomis variety. I don't know what the reason for it is.

Mine dropped out a few years ago. Heat is part of it. More than any other sunfish I am familiar with, Pumpkinseeds loose condition when it gets hot.
