In my not so humble opinion, this is a major part of NANFA.  Again, in my not so humble opinion, the quality of the journal has greatly increased since Olaf Nelson took over as Design and Layout Editor and I know that we now have a high quality journal.  Thanks to all who have submitted articles, we couldn't do it without you.

My opinion is not totally independent either, but I heartily agree that AC is a major feather in our cap and a serious piece of citizen science.

I agree that American Currents continues to improve and is a major service to NANFA members, aquaculturists, fisheries biologists, and ichthyologists. It serves an important need for observational and hobbyist science to become part of humanity's permanent record through publication. IT serves a need not filled by scientific journals. Those currently in charge of the publication are doing a fine job, and it is appreciated.

 

As a NANFA member of about 35 years and a very previous board member and officer, AC has grown to be a much more attractive and easy-to-read publication with its color photos, quality print, and easy-to-read read layout. The quality of content has always been high in my opinion, but has grown in recent years.

 

As a hobbyist, AC represents my main source of information, along with the NANFA Forum, on native fish between NANFA conventions except for the very occasional article in other aquarium magazines and newspapers. Without the 2020 convention, AC is even more critical.

I always look forward to each issue and the contents and articles are so diverse.  I lean toward trip reports but each article is read, enjoyed and i always learn something.

I do have to mirror comments that Olaf is an outstanding, creative and a bit crazed which all good artists are.

Thank you everyone who works together to make this an excellent publication and representation of NANFA.

Completely agree.  The team of Fritz, Kon, and Olaf with assistance from Matt and others is doing an excellent job.

 

I know that this is preaching to the choir, but I would love to see others jump in and learn current method and layout process.  The more people involved will make it less shocking when one, or more, of these guys chooses to move on.  We had a heck of a time in the period after Chris chose to step aside.  It was a major source of stress for Fritz and others at the time.  Just something to think about.

I agree.  AC is great.  I'm not a writer, but I keep an eye open for fish news in the area to contribute.  Unfortunately you don't see a lot.
