Figured I'd make a post for the hell of it. Stuck my nose into a couple of creeks and saw a couple new to me species. The family was involved so I didn't have totally free rein but got my fair share of fish today.
First stop was at the Collins River, didn't turn up much but did get to see a cherry darter for the first time.
Next we went to Woodbury where I found an absolutely absurd amount of southern redbelly dace and what I think are redband darters. The creek is seasonal and dries up to sporadically placed puddles most of the time. Today the creek was about 4 to 6 feet across at that spot and no deeper than 6 inches (with the exception of one spot that was probably 12" or so) I have never seen that many darters in one place before. In a stretch no longer than a quarter mile I saw what had to truly be a few hundred.
(I am pretty confident in the ID but I figured I would add the pic to allow for correction if it's something else)
