Long ago when I started raising tropical ornamentals chicken egg yolk was used with very limited success. What appeared to make it work now that I know more is the egg yolk promoted quantity and quality of the protozoans the fish larvae actually consumed. The down side was the deteriorated water quality that limited what could be grown. Water changes needed to be extensive or the number of larvae attempted kept low. I have not attempted soy milk. Being lazy now, I simply culture zooplankton or purchase high quality feeds for larvae that were not available almost 40 years ago.

I use egg yolk as a stop gap when I am out of every other type of viable first fry feed. As mentioned above, it fouls the water quickly and it becomes a vicious cycle between providing adequate food and adequate water quality.

Hello.
The pollution problem does not arise in a small pond.
I found this site.
