I spent some of yesterday snorkeling a couple spots on a favorite local river, hoping to see some fallfish or even possibly some early mounds, since they breed pretty early and I find them there often in summer. I got in the water and saw pretty much all the regulars, plus some spawning condition white suckers. But the fallfish were nowhere to be found, even right where I had seen numerous massive ones in the summer.

Does anyone know anything about upstream/downstream migration in fallfish?
Perhaps they head downstream to build their mounds, or migrate upstream only in summer to escape warmer water?
