Hello all!  I have a 7 gallon cube heavily planted aquarium with a hob filter and a corner filter.  These are the following questions

1. Can I train these pygmy sunfish to eat dry ( not trying to breed)?  Although I have frozen

2. Can these go with my 4 asian stone catfish I already have in the tank?

3. Which is the best species for my tank?  I'm a beginner.  I was particularly looking at gulf coast pygmy sunfish

4. How many could do in my tank?

5. I was also wondering which I should get, these or least killifish for my tank?  Your opinion

1.  Dry food: No, they wont eat it.  Elassoma need live or frozen foods, and small fry need live food.

2.  Hara cats will eat the pygmy eggs and fry, but adults should be OK.

3.  Gulf coast, Okefenokee, and Everglades pygmys are all pretty similar in care, behavior, needs, and can be kept in 5 gal.  Banded pygmy can be more aggressive and I would advise a 10 gal or larger for a group of those.

4.  I'd suggest not more than 2 adult males, plus 5 or 6 females.  In tanks less than 10 gal, one male usually dominates and suppresses the color  of the subordinate males.

5.  Least killifish (Heterandria) are definitely easier, will happily eat flake food, and are more active.  Elassoma spend most of their time hovering in one spot.  But watching Elassoma males doing their dance is worth the extra effort.

Oh, thank you sooo much!  Its a shame they wont eat dry because I wanted to train them to eat it.  If I can't find or get gulf coast of okefnokee pygmy sunfish i might have to settle with least killis.  Also for pygmy sunfish I could have 8 in a 7 gallon cube?  I was thinking like maybe a pair or 1 male and 2 females lol.  Another thing is could I have 2 species?
