He is so cool! That creek is right across the river from one of my favorites Maybe his pug face and sharp nose allow him a genetic advantage when chasing prey in rock crevices? I say that because most rainbow darters have kind of more of a rounded off snout, while his is much pointier, albeit shorter.

Absolutely a gorgeous fish! Still no luck catching a male rainbow like that. I did catch a small O-spot sunfish and a baby warmouth yesterday, but the river isn't raging high enough to push the darters close to the shoreline yet.
