I'm planning on setting up a 120 gallon aquarium soon. Tank is 48x24x24. I plan to do a river style hardscape and it will be heavily planted. One fish I would really like to get a decent size school of are Rainbow Shiners. Just wondering what other natives might do well in a tank this size along with the shiners? Not going for a biotope...just a nice looking planted tank with some cool looking fish.

I know you said you are not going for a biotope, but a large tank and a stream is begging for a a few Nocomis Chub... I like Bluehead Chubs... but each to their own.

I also would consider your favorite Cyprinella shiner (I know they both have shiner in the name, but something like a Bannerfin is a totally different looking and acting fish.

I just mean I'm not necessarily limiting myself to just native fish or plants.
