Dear NANFAns,

I have been able to coordinate a special event for those interested in native fish in Southeastern Wisconsin. One of the curators at Discovery World/Pier Wisconsin has kindly invited those interested in native fish to a behind-the-scenes tour of the aquariums at Discovery World/Pier Wisconsin. Discovery World will be allowing us to come FREE OF CHARGE. This is an $18.00 per person value! You will be responsible for paying for your own parking, though. This will cost about $8.00 per car. The trip will be at Discovery World at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 14th. YOU MUST REGISTER WITH ME BEFORE THE TRIP TO ATTEND as I have to provide our hosts with a count of attendees before we come. Please call me or email me if you plan on attending. I will have to know how many adults, how many children ages 3-17, and how many children under 3 will be attending.

Discovery World/Pier Wisconsin's address is: 500 North Harbor Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202. Check out their website for more info about Discovery World. Their URL is: http://www.pierwisconsin.org.

Hope to see you there!

Brian

Hey! Many thanks to Brian and Discovery World for the FREE visit! It was well worth the price. ;)

Seriously, it was a great outing. Here's my capsule review:

The aquarium section was really neat, some of those tanks were HUGE! The wonder of modern day acrylics. The tanks were huge, but, overall, the aquarium section was too small. They should have made the whole pier into a public aquarium. (Maybe I am biased.) It is always fun to have a behind the scenes tour. The biological hazard warnings on cycling tanks made me laugh.

My daughter really enjoyed the rest of Discovery World. She's 13 with a science jones. To me, it seemed like a stripped down Museum of Science and Industry (Chicago) with an attendant on every exhibit. I really liked the hanging sailing vessel.

I would agree. The tanks where big but there wheren't enough of them. It was fun to go and see it though! It seemed a little pricey to me though. lol. Thanks Brian!
