Are hybrids in the native fish hobby acceptable? Or are they frowned upon?

I ask these as cichlid hobby (in general) frowns upon hybrids, as most are trying to keep the bloodlines pure for if/when they become endangered/threatened/extinct in the wild. Is that the case with this fish hobby?

As for me, I am against hybrids, as I like pure species. Dealing with hybrids is just too frustrating for everyone that wants something clean and nice. And yes, that does mean I hate FLOWERHORNS (cichlid reference)!

The gratuitous production of hybrids is not a good idea. There are sometimes research reasons for producing hybrids, as is done by Centrarchid on this list. But cranking out and distributing hybrids is a serious faux pas.

That's good to hear.
