I remember two years ago I caught a Pacific Staghorn Sculpin (Leptocottus armatus) and since they go into freshwater to spawn (and they don't die after spawning) I decided to put one in my aquarium. He adapted and I had him for four months in the winter until his feeding pattern got disturbed and he died. This year I am not planning on keeping a sculpin (they can't live with anyone because of their large mouth and they sit still 24 hours in a row unless I feed them. One time several snails were crawling on his body and he didn't do anything). So this year I am thinking of keeping a different species, either shiner perch or Starry flounder. I don't know if I should wait until late fall because of the colder weather or would they still adapt. If anyone has tips on how to get them to adapt to freshwater more easily or any other tips I would appreciate it.
