This year's NANFA Conservation Research Grant proposal review committee participants were Bruce Lilyea, Fritz Rohde and Michael Wolfe. This year we selected the proposals by Wynn Haslam, a undergraduate student studying Biological Sciences and Fish Conservation at Virginia Tech, and Payton Barry, a PhD student studying Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland.

The title of Haslam's research is "How does the abundance of Etheostoma caeruleum affect the microhabitat use of E. flabellare, E. blennioides, and E. olmstedi in the Monocacy River Watershed."  The title of Barry's research is "Investigating the Effects of Introduced Species of Native Fish Behavior."  More details about this study will be shared in an upcoming edition of American Currents (A NANFA publication.

Thank you to all who participate in this year’s Conservation Research Grant process, especially all of the applicants.  Please join me in congratulating Wynn and Payton!
