How do I make an avatar that moves (kind of like what iturnrocks has)?

You will need a flash program like Fireworks MX to create and animated .gif image... you will have to animate it frame by frame, of course. If I had the spare time, I'd make one for you.. but unfortunately I just don't.
Any other takers?

But be advised that if it is too annoying, I'll ask that you remove it :D

What, you mean like the live-action video I have of the "save the whale" lady spouting? You say annoying, I say "entertaining"!

My turtle was created from an .avi video file from my camera. I edited the individual frames in Adobe Photoshop and Imageready.

That is my actual River Cooter swimming against the glass in my aquarium. Here is the original size gif.

On this subject, I have found the size limitation KB wise, but what are the actual max dimensions in pixels that an avatar can be?

In general pixel size will automatically be reduced all you need to do is keep it under 50kb.

Right, I understand that, but coming from a graphic design standpoint-I like to know what my target size(?px X ?px) and resolution (72dpi) is going to be... In other words, what size will it automatically reduce the file to?

I right clicked on your current avatar and it read:80x80
When right clicking on others avatars I noticed that 90 seems to be the maximum.

I've been doing the same thing ;)

I think it is 90 x90 as well.
