I still like them now have both of the sub species Western and eastern I dont mix them but I still think its cool to see them side by side to show how different they are
just a question but is there any other sub species of monsquito fish?

Yes I know people hate them but eastern is native to my area and I like the fact I can keep them with my sunnies to keep them long ears in line

I think Eastern gambusia in Florida are melanistic form only in males but sometimes the females has it. Hybrid between eastern and western called Innes gambusia I think are melanistic form in both sexes cool? There's different species of gambusia in different countries but majority species are in Mexico and southern United States. Other species are uncommon and limited habit I always wanted eastern gambusia. The gambusia are not related to other mosquitofish (least killifish)

Fritz's book only covers a small region.

Looking at http://nanfa.org/checklist.shtml, you will see that most are T&E, so they aren't available to the average person.

The next book you buy should be Peterson's. It is very helpful especially with species not in your area.
