I had the pleasure of meeting a great guy last week. wegl2001 took me to a tannin stained creek in Baldwin county Alabama. We used dip nets and found the following fish:
Lepomis miniatus (red spotted sunfish) This is right were they mix with punctatus so this is probably an intergrade fish
Gambusia (holbrooki?) again right in the intergrade area
Lepomis gulosus (Warmouth)
Aphredoderus sayanus (pirate perch)
Lepomis marginatus (dollar sunfish)
Elassoma zonatum (banded pygmy sunfish)
Elassoma evergladei (everglades pygmy sunfish)
Enneacanthus gloriosus (bluespoted sunfish)
Esox niger (chain pickerel)
Etheostoma fusiforme (swamp darter)
Fundulus nottii (bayou topminnow)

I'm convinced that native fish guys are the most kind and generous people in the world. This example just proves it. wegl2001 took time off work to show a perfect stranger (form the internet) to a great little spot with easy access. He took the time to help me ID these fish (as many of these fish don't live in northern Illinois). We had a great time talking fish and sharing stories. I hope to share the water with him again some time.

wegl2001 also spotted some not so fishy things i thought might be worth a chuckle. Anyone care to figure out what these things are?

The jelly mass well, is a jelly mass. Much like hard gelatin and clear.

Thanks for the great time wegl2001!
