Hello again! Brown bullheads eventually get to 20+ inches, so they might outgrow your tank and try to eat their tank mates. Small specimens are great aquarium fish. Somewhere, at around 8-10 inches, some of them get surly and might not tolerate tankmates or other bullheads. My hypothesis is that these are males reaching sexual maturity. You might also consider madtoms which are much smaller and more aquarium suited. Don't get stung! (Bullheads sting too.)

Bullheads are widespread. They are generally found in ponds and lakes, not so much in flowing water. They are easy to catch with hook and line. Use worms, fished on the bottom, in the evening. However, bullheads usually swallow the bait, so survival is an issue. Catching tiny ones in the spring is easy with a dipnet. The fry form "clouds" that swim along the shores, protected by their daddy. Later in the year, you can catch small ones in shallow water with a seine or dipnet. I used to have great success finding them under docked boats. Also, a minnow trap, left out overnight, baited with something stinky, will often turn up a small bullhead.
