Google will be your favorite friend for a chapter or two.
I remember one night I spent more time looking up stuff than reading.

There's a sizable population of people who use the Walstad method on www.aquaticplantcentral.com (which I hope I'm allowed to mention here :S) including Diana Walstad herself. The subsection of the forums is called El Natural or something. A lot of these people really know what they're talking about in terms of water chemistry and things and can probably help you out if you have any questions.

Sorry for the derail but....This forum encourages information sharing of all types. Many forum owners/staff covet members and furthermore promote their forum to draw membership. We simply want people interested in native fish conservation, education and captive care to come here and learn/share information with others. We do not advertise and we have no policy to discourage mention of other forums. We don't feel as though we're competing or stepping on toes. If any member here has information to share that pertains directly to conservation, education or captive care, please feel free to share. We only ask that valuable resources are posted and not spammed.
Now that you've read this, please pretend I did not post this here :smile2:

My book was delivered today. Are there any cliffs notes? :???:

Very interesting, but it has been 20 years since high school biology and chemistry. Avoided both subjects in college. I'm on chapter 4 and will have it finished by the end of the week. So far a lot of great info on chemical and biological processes, but I'm still waiting for the real good stuff.......how to set up the tank.

I have had Diane Walstad answer some questions at the aquatic plant central site. Good info there when getting set up
