baby tears
Bacopa amplexicaualis
Micromeria brownei/Clinopodium brownei
Blood Stargrass
Lysimachia nummularia
luwig
Val. neotropicalis
Lobelia cardinalis

I ordered the plants from Arizona Aquatics, I tried to get anything that was native to North America, , one of the patients wanted me to put some wal-mart bulbs in the tank so I did, and he kept bringing me more so i have a ton of them in the tank.

they are huge

there was a huge learning curve with this tank, it went from an over flow and a home made sump to 2 eheim pro 2028's and a old fluval that i use as a co2 diffuser. It is in our new office so I cant have it looking bad, i dropped a lot more cash on the tank than i had planned. but it is worth it in my opinion.

did the lobelia come from those walmart bulbs, or did you order them? does that plant require room to grow above the surface?

by lobelia i assume you mean this

i ordered the lobelia from Arizona aquatic gardens. tell you the truth i am not a plant buff, i ordered plants that said they were from north America, and had a ton of help via advise from the web. it has 8 or 9 times its original size, but it does not seem to be racing to the top like the other plants.

the wal-mart bulbs have become a problem with covering the top of the tank, so i have taken to plucking the runners that get to the top of the water.

I also put a hand full of duck weed in the tank to help stymie the green water that i had at first, I remove all i can get at each weekly water change and in 7 days it covers easily 1/3 of the tank again.

gonna have 2 start cutting the stuff out of the middle of the tank, by next week it will be sticking out of the water.

ill post another Pict tomorrow

yeah, I was just asking because I know that lobelia cardinalis(cardinal flower) is occasionally sold around here as a garden plant..it's quite beautiful in bloom. I didn't realize it was also a pond plant..that's good to know! Do you know what species those bulbs are? I'm not an aquatic plant buff either..I'm just trying to get a feel for what's working in other people's native tanks. Beautiful tank btw, looking forward to more pics.

My guess is A. crispus or something similar. Some sort of Aponogeton for sure.
