I'm wondering if anyone here has tried to keep them in captivity before? I'm looking for information on their care and I figured forums like this would be the place to find some people with a lot of knowledge and hands-on experience. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

I have 2 in my 55 gallon, they seem to do ok on flake food .Hi all, I'm a researcher looking to start a project on the Redside Dace, which sadly made it onto the endangered species list in Canada this summer. I'm hoping to help eventually set up a highly effective supportive breeding program for them.

I have some information you may be interested in and I'm also interested in your project as these fish are also endangered here in Michigan. I am hoping (it is still in it's infancy) to try to captive maintain a group of the Michigan 'genotype' fish for future work myself. please contact me by PM and lets talk
Brian Zimmerman (SMBASS on the fourm) I believe can also help you much. of which if you see this Brian copy me in on any info as well. I've been meaning to get in touch with you about this.

I tried keeping them just this spring. Only one out of 3 or so survived. I was trying to acclimate them too fast. The one I have currently I acclimated overnight in the water I caught it in and it is doing fine now. I hope to collect and try out some more. I only have experiance with the one but once acclimated they seem fairly hardy, it survived some warm days this past summer with no problem and it will eat anything it can fit in it's mouth, all kinds of flakes and pellets etc.
