I'm Shawn, from the west coast of Florida, due east of Tampa. I've been catching native fishes most of my life but only because i was fascinated by them. I never kept them in an aquarium. Mostly, i would catch them by hand in the clear, cold rivers and streams in north central pennsylvania. I've lived in florida now for about seven years and am now getting the urge to catch natives here. which led me to stumble across this site. now i'm interested in keeping some in my aquarium and as they outgrow that, they live in a pond. I made a minnow trap this morning out of a water bottle. it had a funnel shape on the bottom already so i just drilled a hole in it and will go out this afternoon to see what i can catch! can't wait. anyway. glad i found this site and hope to trade some natives around here. be safe everyone.

Welcome!
If you get down to the brackish coastal streams, keep your eyes open for black sailfin mollies. I'm hoping to add some black genes to my wild sailfin mollies. No way would I pay money for the freakish hybrid crap in the pet stores.

i will certainly post them if i catch them. i will keep you in mind. i do not have a brackish setup but if i can find black sailfins, i will set up a small one to hold a few for you. i live right on the west coast so brackish systems are close to me.
