I had this pegged as a large johnny, but Telost mentioned he thought it may be a greenside. Since I've never seen a greenside "in the flesh"..what do you guys think?

I am not good at iding darters from outside my area. However, it doesn't look like a johnny. It does look like greensides I have seen. Out of color, or female, maybe that is why it lacks the green coloration and the red I seem to remember?

I am sure someone else can give a much more confident identification. One help is a better shot of its face. I know the greensides had an unique look to the face they share with bandeds that I am familiar with. I seem to see that in the picture, but not clear without a closer shot of the face.

Looks like my small non colored up greensides, IMO Johnnies have a more pointy had shape as well.

Yeah, greenside, with that "W" patterning along the side.

You can also see the faint pattern of color in the dorsal fin and the gigantic pectoral fins...
