From fritz :

The manuscript for the the Freshwater Fishes of South Carolina was
delivered to USC Press on December 10th after many years of
preparation. There will be 159 color photos of fishes, 151 maps, and at
least 27 color figures included and approximately 400 pages of text.
That's the good news. Because of the size and all the color, it is
projected to be released in the Spring of 2009. That's the not so good
news.

I'll probably buy it. It's nice to know the fishes of neighboring states and their distribution for trips. Maybe one day I'll be able to write a Fishes of Georgia book. :D

Shoot! You're greedy. You're already in the Acknowledgements as are a number of NANFA members. Big smile.

I cannot wait!!! Been on a trip or two with Fritz... love the existing book... and since I live in Georgia (and therefore do not have a state book of my own) I will definitely be buying this one. No wait, delete all of that...

Fritz wrote it, I'm buying one.

Congratulations Fritz on the completion of a long hard job... your contribution is greatly appreciated.

stonerollers and muskellunges - two of the more "common" fishes in the state of South Carolina. LOL. Y'all need to focus on the really great fishes that the state has to offer. :D

In South Caroliona, muskellunge are only known from the upper Broad River - undoubtedly escapees from Lake Adger in Polk County, NC where they have been stocked for years by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.

I think that an autographed copy would be a great auction item for the 2009 convention, wherever it may be.

Probably not. I auctioned a copy of "Fishes of Alabama" which was donated by Malcolm Pierson and autographed by all three authors at the 2000 convention in Jackson. It didn't cost a fortune. Somebody got a helluva deal. I don't remember who won the auction, but I remember that Malcolm was a very friendly fellow and sympathetic to native hobbyists.

No question that is where they come from (down the Green, into the Broad and down into SC)

I'm not too far from Lake Adger. Would like to musky fish it sometime.
