Hi everybody,
I have been keeping aquarium fish for some time now and have had lots of success with our native fish. One thing that I find to be one of the most challenging parts for us as aquarists is the treatment of diseases in our aquariums. It's not common that my fish do "catch" something, but even after quarantine...sometimes it happens. I've often taken the route of adding salt to the water after doing a water change. Also, adding stress coat liquids seems to help a little bit. I was wondering if the people on this forum had links to websites that offer remedies for some of the fish disease problems (and I'm not talking about Fish Fever *when you can't stop fishing*) that we commonly run into. If the websites have ways to diagnose each disease too, that'd be even more helpful. I've been meaning to ask this for some time, but I recently had a 2 Northern Studfish develop mouth fungus and no other fish in my tank did. Also, my Bigmouth Shiners have shown signs now (after 3 months of having them) of a white parasite infesting their body. Links to websites for this cause would be a great tool for all of our members.

-Nate

Here's one from when I did a quick search on for "Ich/Whitespot". I haven't seen this much with my native fish, but I remember when I used to keep tropical fish, this came up from time to time.

Hello Nate,
Its almost always a dreaded event that all fish keepers have experienced at least a few times.
I frequent another "fish forum" with a good disease section and more profiles being created.
http://fishprofiles....files/diseases/
take a peek and see if this may help.

good luck
J.

I tend to use this site as a first step in diagnosis: http://web.archive.o...rg/Disease.html because of the great pictures and enough detail to help with google searches for in-depth info. I've linked to the Archive version of the site because the original site takes about four hours to load for some reason if my browser can find it at all.
