Several 3-6 month contractual positions have opened up in Maryland DNR's Monitoring and Non-tidal Assessment Division. If you are interested in applying for one of these positions the details are listed in the following link:

"The worker is likely to encounter hot weather, biting insects, long hikes, briars, snakes, and may have to carry up to a 30 pound back-pack."

Sounds like a typical day off for me.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know a ballpark pay range for a job like that?

As the linked advertisement says we pay 14.16/hour for that classification level. If you check out the temporary job listings on the American Fisheries Society website a similar job throughout the country pays anywhere from 8-15/hr most around 10.
