We ran into drought conditions in south-central Illinois this fall. It caused us to reject doing the sites that were too low to sample. For instance, we had some sites to visit to determine if they were boat-able or wade-able and there'd be no water at all. Couldn't get the boat very far in those ones... That's the only time it caused us a problem. We made it a point of sampling streams only when gages said that the river levels were normal or about normal levels for that time of year.

Enough years like 2007 and there will be a new normal.
