drainage - watershed - they are interchangeable mostly.That's a stunning fish! And it was thoughtful of him to pose on those complementarily-colored rocks.

I know, I meant which drainage did he get the fish from.drainage - watershed - they are interchangeable mostly.

Newt, the fish came from a small nameless creek that's part of the Kalamazoo River watershed. It's pretty much isolated though, as the riffle/pool habitat is upstream from a large marsh/swamp complex that the creek empties into...so I"d guess these guys have been isolated for quite some time.
I have 4 males from this stream(I won't take any more, unless it's to replace lost fish), this one is pretty representative of what they look like when they are fully relaxed and colored up.

I've been thinking about this, and it would be sort of cool to be "published"...That is absolutely gorgeous!
Have you considered submitting it for publication in American Currents?
Any idea how one might go about doing that?
