Here are a couple of pictures of one of the Mottled Sculpins we (Matt D, Brian Z, Marc K, and I) pulled out on Tuesday (01/29/08) from the Massies Creek (?) confluence with The Little Miami River. Sorry, the water is a bit murky.

When they are small they go well with darters. As they grow, they are best kept in a species tank. They will eat anything that will fit into their mouths. As bottom dwellers, they will not compete with shiners. They are a tricky fish, requiring cooler water, and lots of dissolved O2. I have had pretty good success with them. I have gotten the larger ones onto frozen market shrimp.
